A district and sessions court in Islamabad has extended the physical remand of Hasan Zahid, the main suspect in the Samiya Hijab abduction and threats case, for three more days.
The prosecution had requested an eight-day extension, citing pending recovery of weapons, Zahid’s vehicle, and the arrest of accomplices. However, the court only granted three days after reviewing arguments.
During the hearing, prosecutors presented transaction records between Zahid and social media personality Samiya Hijab, as well as a video statement from her parents. They also confirmed that Rs45,000 was recovered from the suspect.
The defence countered by claiming that Zahid and Samiya were engaged, showing photographs in court to support their stance. The lawyer argued that Zahid had already been granted bail in another case but was rearrested deliberately.
Samiya, who has a strong following on Instagram and TikTok, alleged in a video that Zahid had been harassing her for months, making threats, and demanding marriage against her will.
She further stated that Zahid appeared outside her house, snatched her mobile phone, and tried to force her into his car. Following her complaint, police registered a case and deployed security personnel outside her residence.
