Pakistan led the UN Security Council as its president in July, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said. During this time, Pakistan raised a strong voice for Gaza and the Palestinian cause. The country chaired three key Security Council meetings and pushed for peace talks. This showed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Alongside this, a presidential statement on cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the UN was also adopted unanimously. These achievements marked Pakistan’s diplomatic success at the international level.
During his New York visit, Ishaq Dar met top officials, including the UN General Assembly President and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They discussed many regional issues such as Pakistan-India relations and Iran-Israel tensions. Dar also held talks with foreign ministers of OIC countries to promote shared interests and collaboration.
Dar emphasized Pakistan’s strong role in a recent multilateral conference on Palestine. Pakistan successfully pushed for a unanimous resolution supporting Gaza and rejected the Greater Israel plan. He highlighted that Pakistan’s position on Palestine remains firm and clear. The country continues to advocate for peace and justice in the region.
Finally, Dar spoke about improved ties with the UK during his visit. He inaugurated new digital land services and a one-window passport system at Pakistan’s High Commission. Additionally, direct flights between Pakistan International Airlines and Manchester will begin soon. These developments will boost connectivity and bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK.
