Army takes out 14 more Indian-backed militants in Zhob

Published on: August 9, 2025 2:51 PM

In a major counter-terror operation, Pakistan’s security forces killed 14 more Indian-sponsored militants in the Sambaza area of Zhob, Balochistan. This brings the total number of terrorists eliminated in the past two days to 47, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation began on August 7, targeting infiltration attempts from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. A deliberate sanitisation mission followed on the night of August 8-9, during which the additional 14 militants were killed.

ISPR stated that the operation also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants. The army termed the neutralised individuals as “khwarij” — a term it uses for violent extremist groups. It added that these elements were attempting to destabilize Pakistan with foreign support. The military reaffirmed its commitment to securing national frontiers and maintaining peace and stability across the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their swift and effective response. He said the personnel had risked their lives to prevent a serious infiltration and protected the country from potential violence. The PM reiterated that the nation stands united with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He assured the public that the government remains fully committed to eradicating all forms of extremism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also applauded the armed forces for what he called a strong blow to “Fitna-e-Hindustan.” He credited the military for ending the activities of India-backed terrorists operating in Balochistan. According to him, the swift elimination of 47 militants in just two days was a clear demonstration of the forces’ professional capability. Naqvi said these actions have blocked attempts to sabotage peace in the region.

The army’s recent operations highlight the ongoing security threats along the western border. However, the successful missions also reflect the preparedness and resolve of Pakistan’s forces. With continued support from the government and public, security agencies aim to further tighten border control and eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
