The Lahore High Court has stopped the Municipal Corporation from taking any disciplinary action to remove buffaloes from the city limits. The court has directed the Chief Officer of the Municipal Corporation to first listen to the petitioners before making any decision.
During the hearing of the petition filed against the decision to remove buffaloes from the city, the High Court clearly instructed that no action should be taken without giving the affected people a fair chance to present their views.
The petitioners argued that the Municipal Corporation had earlier allowed them to keep their buffaloes away from residential areas. However, after following those instructions, they are now being told to shift completely outside city limits.
They further added that they are currently located far from populated areas and are providing fresh milk to citizens without causing any public nuisance. They also expressed willingness to follow any new regulations or guidelines given by the authorities.
Despite their compliance, they believe that the new order to shift out of the city is unfair and should be cancelled. Therefore, they requested the court to nullify the eviction decision, highlighting its negative impact on their livelihood.
In response, the Lahore High Court has temporarily halted the operation and has given a clear order to the Municipal Corporation: listen to the petitioners, understand their concerns, and then make a well-considered decision.
