Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met with Secretary General of the Intra-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Ek Nath Dhakal, at Parliament House in Islamabad. The meeting focused on boosting cooperation for peace, development, and regional dialogue ahead of the proposed ISC conference in Pakistan this November.

During the meeting, Ek Nath Dhakal briefed Chairman Gilani on the preparations for the upcoming international peace conference. Gilani welcomed him warmly and called the visit an important step toward regional understanding and cooperation. He also highlighted the ISC’s role as a powerful platform for promoting global peace and development.

Chairman Gilani emphasized the urgent need for a united global strategy to face common challenges such as conflicts and crises. He said joint efforts are necessary to deal with these issues effectively. The discussion reflected a shared vision for strengthening parliamentary ties across nations.

Secretary General Dhakal praised Gilani’s leadership and international standing, saying his vision would make the ISC more impactful. He also shared future plans of the ISC, including applying for observer status at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and building deeper ties with the United Nations to achieve global development goals.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together. They agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, promote regional peace, and address shared challenges through dialogue and mutual understanding. Dhakal thanked Pakistan for the warm hospitality and conveyed good wishes from Nepal’s people and government.
