Israel launched a major attack on Iran early Friday. The strike killed Iran’s armed forces chief, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, and the Revolutionary Guard’s commander, Major General Hossein Salami. Six nuclear scientists also died, confirming a severe blow to Iran’s military and nuclear programs. Iranian media reported civilian casualties too, including women and children.
The Israeli military targeted over 100 nuclear and military sites using 200 fighter jets. They claimed the operation aims to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Israeli security sources said Mossad commandos conducted secret missions inside Iran before the strike. These actions included placing weapons near missile sites for precision attacks.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the attack. He called it a “bloody crime” and warned Israel of harsh punishment. Khamenei confirmed the deaths of commanders and scientists and promised that their successors would continue their work. He said Israel has written a painful fate for itself.
Iran’s armed forces spokesman, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, confirmed attacks on residential areas. He vowed a strong response, blaming the United States for backing Israel. Iranian security officials said plans for a tough, decisive retaliation are underway, though the timing remains uncertain.
Following the attacks, Israel declared a state of emergency and closed its airspace. Iran also halted flights at its main airport, while neighboring countries closed their skies. The strikes have raised fears of escalating conflict. Meanwhile, US Senator Marco Rubio warned Iran not to target American forces, clarifying Washington’s non-involvement in the attack.
