LAHORE – Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan has said that the actions of PTI founder Imran Khan were criminal in nature and should not be seen as political moves. Speaking at a public gathering in Kasur, he made it clear that he opposes any deal or compromise with the former prime minister.
He firmly stated, “May 9 was not a protest—it was a crime. Corruption is a crime. Violating the boundaries set by Allah is also a crime. All of these were committed by Imran Khan, including the cipher conspiracy.” Malik Ahmad Khan added that no one can justify acts of violence by calling them political rights.
Commenting on national security, he rejected allegations against Saifullah Kasuri in the Pahalgam incident, saying such claims must be backed by evidence. “We do not trust India’s claims without proof. We will condemn terrorism, but only with credible facts,” he said, accusing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of staging incidents like Pulwama and Pahalgam to blame Pakistan.
He also highlighted the heavy sacrifices Pakistan has made in the fight against terrorism. “More than 100,000 Pakistanis, including over 40,000 soldiers, have laid down their lives. Terrorism has struck mosques, markets, schools, and homes,” he stated with emotion.
On water issues, Malik Ahmad Khan stressed that water is a matter of life and survival for Pakistan. He said the country had asked India for a clear response on this critical issue. “We want peace, not war. But peace requires fairness and responsibility from both sides,” he noted.
In conclusion, he urged political leaders and international partners to recognize the difference between criminal acts and political expression. “True democracy does not protect violence and conspiracies,” the speaker emphasized.
