Sir: There are no good healthcare facilities that cater to the poor people. The public sector facilities lack resources. The case of the hospital in Raiwind area of Lahore is an example. Recently, a pregnant woman was not admitted at the hospital because of lack of doctors and she ended up giving birth on the road in front of the hospital. The Punjab government seems least concerned about building hospitals or renovating and improving existing health institutions. All its energies seem to be focused on building Metro trains and motorways and Orange Trains. This is a classic case of misplaced priorities. If there aren’t enough doctors available for public sector facilities then why isn’t the government increasing the number of seats in medical colleges? I humbly submit that while the government keeps spending on beautification of Lahore, it should also pay attention to the needs of the poor citizens.
