LAHORE: Pakistan Youth XI defeated visiting Australian Army team by a big margin of 107 runs in the second Twenty20 match of a three-match series at Gaddafi Stadium here on Friday. Pakistan Army 4 Corps team defeated the visitors by four wickets in the opening match of the series. The third and final match will be played on Saturday (today) at Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground. Elected to bat after winning the toss on a lively wicket, Pakistan Youth XI posted a big total of 219 runs for the loss of three wickets and later bowled out the Australian side for 88 runs in 19.4 overs. Waqas Ali played a lead role in Pakistan’s innings that was later consolidated by Fahad Usman. Both players managed to reach their half centuries while Ali Zaryab remained not out at 34. Waqas, in his innings, smashed nine boundaries while Fahad followed him in the same order. The visiting team’s main striker Albert Havey chipped in with one wicket for 11 runs while his bowling partners Thomas Gilmore and Robert Marama also grabbed one wicket each. The visitors were mainly the victims of Ghulam Murtaza and Ahmed Shafiq while Salman Fayyas and Waqar Ali claimed one wicket each. Murtaza sent back four of the visiting team batsmen to the pavilion while Ahmed had three scalps. Timothy Devitt with 35 was the only prominent scorer and was also given consolation man of the match award for his singular performance. Lt Gen Sadiq Ali distributed the prizes among the players.
