LAHORE: Fatima Memorial Hospital celebrated World Immunisation Week 2016 to ensure increased awareness of the importance of vaccination in all age groups.
The week was celebrated by conducting free vaccination for children of all ages from April 25 – 28. These free vaccines were provided in collaboration and cooperation of EPI Pakistan. Children from all walks of life were part of the week and the parents were counseled on the importance of vaccination.
On conducting the week, FMH Infection Control Officer Dr Shahzad Naseem said, “Immunisations save millions of lives of all age groups around the world. Pakistan is in desperate need of more comprehensive programs like EPI Pakistan to fight communicable diseases.” He stated Pakistan is the only one of the two countries in the world other than Afghanistan, where polio cases are still seen. He also lauded the efforts of EPI Pakistan in the fight against Polio.
