LAHORE: Punjab Planning and Development Department (P&DD) Chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan inaugurated the Knowledge Management Centre at P&D Complex, Punjab Civil Secretariat on Friday. The purpose for the knowledge centre was to encourage and facilitate all employees and would not only be restricted to the employees of P&D but in fact could be used by the university students for their research projects. Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, P&D Chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan congratulated the P&D team for this great initiative and also thanked the allied departments’ heads in extending their support to make this happen. He said this great library revamped by P&D would enlighten future generations, adding that this knowledge centre has been revamped with support from the experts of the Urban Unit and Punjab Information Technology Board. At the inaugural ceremony, Urban Unit Chief Executive Officer Nasir Javed and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) E-governance Director General Sajid Latif gave a briefing to the P&D staff about the upgradation of the Knowledge Management Centre by both the departments and also informed about the usage of the E-library. This step by P&D would yield positive results for all departments of the government besides helping in analysing projects, he added. He said Knowledge Management Centre (KMC) is an interactive and user-friendly e-resource for the consumption of the development professionals, researchers and academia and public policy practitioners. KMC houses a wide array of latest books on multiple disciplines, an assembly of authentic web-linked research journals, online and digital library sources, managed electronic drafts of documents, systematic collection of development projects proposals, IT based circulations new reference and research services through managed shelving, efficient retrieval facility and other knowledge sharing tools and techniques.
