RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has authorised motorcar dealers in Rawalpindi to get registration documents including number plates of their vehicles from excise authorities before selling them to customers. Now onwards, registered vehicles with number plates duly issued by the excise department will be sold at show rooms in Rawalpindi, a source in the district government said. According to excise authorities, this practice was already in place in Lahore. It has now been extended to three other districts – Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan. Motorcar dealers will be authorised to sell registered vehicles under the Punjab Motor Vehicles Transaction License Act-2015. Licence fee will be collected from dealers for registration of each vehicle while excise authorities will prepare registration books and provide them to the dealers.
