ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel Monday said Pakistan had shown great resilience in managing the Afghan refugee crisis. “For well over 30 years, Pakistan had spent a vast amount of resources to accommodate their neighbours, which must be commended. However, what has changed recently was surprising, and understanding the root causes would be critical to a balanced approach forward,” said the envoy during closing ceremony of the three-day residential training programme organised by the Centre for Research and Security Studies and the Pakistan Centre of Excellence (PACE). Germany is spending a vast amount of resources not only to integrate the migrants, but also to educate the resident population to be tolerant,” she added. Resource persons and public intellectuals included Sara Farid, Dr Zubair Ghouri, Safiullah Gul, Dr Qibla Ayaz, Dr AH Nayyar and Humaira Masihuddin.
