ISLAMABAD: Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his children are unlikely to appear before the accountability court on September 19. Nawaz Sharif is in London on a private visit to inquire after the health of his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz. His sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are also in London for the management of family’s business affairs. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is also on a private trip to London and will most likely not be able to appear before the accountability court, which has summoned him on September 20. Daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has also left for London via Doha to meet her ailing mother Kulsoom Nawaz. Maryam took flight number 625 of a private airlines from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. Sources said she will congratulate her mother Kulsoom Nawaz over victory in NA-120 by-poll and will also inform her about the election campaign that she led in the constituency on her behalf. With almost all members of the Sharif family as well as Ishaq Dar in London, it seems unlikely that they would appear before the accountability court on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. According to NAB sources, if Sharifs and Dar do not appear before the accountability court, another summon can be sent to them. In case of continuous absence from NAB proceedings, arrest warrants for the suspects will be issued. Published in Daily Times, September 19th 2017.
