LAHORE: Beautician and stylist Asma Tariq says she has been in the industry for the last eight years, all the while, mastering the art of make-up, hair and skincare. Four years back, Asma Tariq showed me how she does make-up and how she applies her styling skills with effortless perfection. There were no cakey foundations and layers of unnecessary make-up, no elaborate back-combings or in-your-face fake lashes. She’s very particular about the cosmetics that she chooses and gives personal space and time to the customer, going by their requirements and educating them over what products they should use and wear every day. She tells me she’s a workaholic. Normally, a middle-aged woman with children and a husband to tend to abstains from being a full-time worker, leave alone being a workaholic. However, that’s not the case with Asma. The beauty business is synonymous to hygiene, and constant supervision by the owner is only but necessary. “I am extremely hygiene conscious. I make sure everything’s clean, dusted and washed, right from the utensils and products that we use to the wax and facial rooms. Everything is not just organised but spick and span as well,” Asma says. The salon might be located in a less commercialised area, but the interior and the structure of the building, which houses her own abode as well, exudes beauty, nature and a peace and serenity salons should possess. I was given a thorough wash with a head massage and after my outward blow dry, I could actually feel my hair turn silky soft and utterly smooth. The manicures and pedicures as well as face polishers, facials and hair dyes are nothing less than satisfactory and safe, although I would like to add a chiller environment in the salon for those of us who would go to Asma T Salon in this scorching weather.
