Sir: I would like to draw your attention toward a serious problem related to the environmental pollution. Environment pollution in residential areas is causing various diseases in middle class localities like Gujar Khan. A colony, Dhok Hayat Ali is suffering from this problem very badly. In past two weeks, three major disease cases were observed in Alama Iqbal Street of this colony. A budget of 10 million was granted against development of this colony, which is more than enough, but no visible change has been witnessed in conditions. Garbage hills are spreading in streets and blocking the sewerage, resulting in sewerage overflowing into streets.Complains have been filed to the local counsellor, but of no use. Garbage collectors should be sent to this colony on fixed bases to clean the sewerage system. Moreover, responsible authorities should take appropriate measures to solve this problem. The condition of street and sewerage system must be improved. Garbage hills should be removed from residential areas to give people a healthy environment. WAJIH UL ISLAM Gujar Khan
