PESHAWAR: Security forces in Swat claimed to have killed three militants in a clash in Malam Jabba that also resulted in the killing of a soldier on Sunday. The official sources said the incident occurred during a search operation in Khwar Pattay village in the Malam Jabba area. “The security forces and the police imposed a curfew and launched a search operation in Khwar Pattay in Malam Jabba after the forces received information about the presence of militants in the area,” the sources said. During the search, they said, the militants opened fire on the soldiers and killed one of them identified as Javed. The sources said the security forces killed three militants in retaliatory fire. The search operation was under until late on Sunday night. Separately, two shops were destroyed when an improvised explosive device planted in Kamar Sar Bazaar of Loi Mamond Tehsil in Bajauar Agency exploded in the early hours of Sunday. Sources in the Political Administration said that unidentified persons planted an explosive device at the Kamar Sar Cloth Market in Loi Mamond that went off at 1am on Sunday. As a result, two shops were completely destroyed, while six others were damaged. No one was reported injured or dead in the blast. Another bomb was reportedly diffused by the officials of the political administration at the same market. The unnamed security guard of the market was arrested for interrogation.
