PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar in realization of its stewardship role in academia and research, has been striving for the strengthening and institutionalization of health research in the academic institutions and health care system of Khyber Pakhunkhwa. Training workshops and conferences are major component of “Research Capacity Building” program of the University. In this regard KMU has held an Annual Health Research Conferences for the last seven years to provide a forum for the effective dissemination of the health research carried out in the province. In this continuation 8th health research conference started yesterday (Monday) on April 24, 2017 at the KMU campus (Phase 5, Hayatabad) with the theme of “One Health: The way forward”. The formal inaugural Ceremony of the said conference will take place today on Tuesday at 9:00 am at Multipurpose Hall. It is worth mentioning that in this conference participants are participating from undergraduate medical students to postgraduate students. Faculty member, clinicians, public health specialists from Health Department, KPK and FATA, WHO and other donor agencies such as UNFPA, WEP, GIZ and UNICEF. The proceedings including model presentations, plenary sessions, parallel sessions, poster & oral presentations on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th April 2017. According to details on the first day which was specified for pre-conference workshop there were 25 workshops held on various topics. Meanwhile VC KMU Prof Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah while talking to the workshop organizers, resource persons and participants said that this conference will provide a broader platform for health Professionals to show case their research activities. He hoped that this conference will not only facilitated the young researchers but will provide a brilliant opportunity to all relevant students, clinicians, medical scientists and medical professionals to learn and share their expertise in health research.
