PESHAWAR: Leaders of FATA Political Alliance (FPA) on Thursday asked the federal government to approve reforms related to tribal areas and announce merger of the tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forthwith. Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, President FPA Nisar Mohmand, MNA Shah Jee Gul Afridi from Khyber Agency and others said that a tribal jirga would be held in Convention Centre Islamabad on February 6 to evolve future line of action. Representatives from PPP, ANP, PMLN, JI, PTI, QWP and Fata Lawyers Forum were present on the occasion. Nisar Mohmand said the jirga convened by Mehmood Khan Achakzai in Islamabad last week had no representation from the tribal areas while the tribal jirga would have representation from tribal areas as well as genuine political parties. He said that some political parties were playing politics over FATA reforms and had blackmailed the federal government for their own personal interests. “We will show our strength and unity for tribal reforms and merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said and added that the federal cabinet should implement reforms recommended by parliamentary committee at once. Speaking on the occasion, MNA Shah Jee Gul Afridi said that all parliamentarians from FATA had been invited to the tribal jirga where they would be free to share their views on brining Fata into national mainstream. He hoped that tribal students, youth, civil society activists and others would participate in the February 6 Jirga in Islamabad. Divisional chairman: Zafarullah Khan elected divisional chairman and Qazi Riaz Qadar general secretary from Dir division in the WAPDA union referendum as their panel All Pakistan WAPDA Hydroelectric Workers (APWHW) has completed a clean sweep and secured all positions in the wapda union referendum. Zafarullah Khan and Riaz Qadar and others from the same panel have secured 123 out of 125 polled votes. Employees from the WAPDA department from Dir division have casted their votes in the referendum. Representatives of the labour department of KP, Farzand Ali as a polling officer and Muhammad Farooq as a ballet officer had been nominated for holding the referendum. Farzand said that total 128 voters had been registered in the Dir division. Two polling stations in Dir and in Chitral were established for the referendum. Total 125 votes had been polled in which the APWHW panel had got 123 votes and the insaaf penal got two votes. After winning of the referendum Zafarullah, Qazi Riaz Qadar and other thanked the employees of WAPDA department for being their confidence and said that they will be trying their best to solve the employees’ issues and difficulties on priority basis. And they will never hurt them after their confidence over them. They said that protect the WAPDA department from privatization was their main agenda and they would struggle for that. Apart from that increasing of the salaries of the employees according to dearness’s ratio and protect the department from divide it into companies were also include in their priorities list for which their panel would continue efforts. After winning the referendum the supporters of the winning panel thank giving rally. The rally started from X&N office which coming back to that office and ended after passing from different routes in the Dir city. Governor: The Governor Khyber Pakhtukhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Thursday felicitated Muhammad Zubair on becoming Governor of Sindh. Conveying his best wishes to the new Sindh Governor, Iqbal Zafar said that his appointment was in recognition of his services for nation and the country. KP Governor expressed well wishes to Governor Sindh in discharge of his new duties in best interest of people of the Sindh province.
