ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its judgement on a plea challenging Raheela Magsi’s election as a member of the Senate. Senator Magsi is associated with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). A single bench of the IHC headed by Justice Amir Farooq heard the case. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nargis Faiz Malik has moved the IHC against Magsi. Lawyer Umer Riaz appeared in the court on behalf of the applicant. He took the stance during that Magsi was from Tando Allah Yar, an area in Sindh. Under the rules and regulations, he said, she could not contest the election for a Senate seat from Islamabad. He said that Magsi transferred her vote from Tando Allah Yar to Islamabad after the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the schedule for the Senate election. Hence, she violated the law, he said. During the hearing, the counsel for Magsi told the court that the matter had been resolved and now the petition was not maintainable. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court reserved its judgement.
