ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani called on National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House on Friday. The matters pertaining to legislative business, parliamentary affairs and democratisation process in the country were discussed during the meeting. The speaker congratulated Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani on her election as first-ever woman speaker of the Balochistan Assembly. The NA speaker was confident that under sagacious leadership of Rahila Durrani, Balochistan Assembly would play a vibrant role in order to legislate for the welfare of the masses of province. He said that the mitigation of sufferings of the people of Balochistan is the top priority of the present democratic set up and substantial funds have been allocated for the development and prosperity in the province. He stressed the need for closer liaison between the parliamentary institutions for strengthening democratic process in the country. He assured support of National Assembly Secretariat and PIPS in the fields of research, legislations and training for capacity building of members and staff of Balochistan Assembly. Balochistan Assembly speaker thanked the National Assembly speaker for his kind remarks and agreed for a closer cooperation between the legislatures of the country.
