ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday confirmed the death sentences of 11 convicts tried by military courts, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The 11 “hardcore terrorists” were “involved in heinous offences related to terrorism”, which include killing and kidnapping civilians, attacks on the armed forces and law enforcement agencies and destruction of schools and communication infrastructure, ISPR said. Muhammad Umar s/o Daleel Khan: The convict was an active member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was involved in attacks on armed forces of Pakistan and LEAs, which resulted in death of soldiers and injuries to police officials. Hameedullah s/o Muhammad Ghazi, Rehmatullah s/o Umar Din, Muhammad Nabi s/o Dilawar Shah and Moulvi Dilbar Khan s/o Kashkar: These four convicts were active members of the TTP. They were involved in attacks on the LEAs, which resulted in deaths of Senior Superintendent of Police Hilal Khan, Colonel Mustafa Jamal and Captain Ishfaq. Rizwan Ullah s/o Taj Mir Khan: The convict was an active member of the TTP. He was involved in killing of a civilian, kidnapping a Wapda employee and attacks on armed forces, which resulted in injuries to an officer and a soldier. Gul Rehman s/o Zareen, Muhammad Ibrahim s/o Maseen, Sardar Ali s/o Muhammad Akram Khan, Sher Muhammad Khan s/o Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Jawad s/o Muhammad Musa were active members of the TTP and involved in attacks on the armed forces and destruction of educational institutions.
