The fruit is also widely known as the largest of the citrus crop and third favourite flavouring around the world after chocolate and vanilla.
Oranges are important in the fight against various diseases and ailments. Consuming the fruit can help in the fight against cancers, such as lung and breast, due to the presence of rich citrus limonoids. In addition the soluble fibres present in its pulp play a significant role in reducing body cholesterol. In addition, they induce digestive juices to reduce constipation.

Oranges also help fight viral infections because of the abundance of polyphenols, while the antioxidant beta-carotene blocks cell damage from pollution in the air.

In addition the variety of minerals and vitamins present in oranges are important reducing heart and kidney diseases and maintaining blood pressure.
