Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly adopted a resolution and also saw an introduction to a government bill on Saturday during the third sitting of 31st session, according to Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN). The Assembly had met for two hours and 15 minutes where the sitting had started an hour after its scheduled time, 1100 hours. The Speaker had presided over the entire sitting while the Deputy Speaker, Balochistan Chief Minister and Opposition Leader were not present in the session. As many as 20 MPAs (31 percent) were present at the outset of the session while 24 members (37 percent) remained until the end. The parliamentary leader of ANP and PML also attended the sitting as did one minority member. The Provincial Minister for Health also introduced the Prohibition of Sheesha Smoking Bill, 2016, which was also referred to the relevant committee. The House also unanimously adopted a resolution, which recommended that the government stop electricity load-shedding in all districts of the province and also ensure accurate billing of electricity charges. The lawmakers discoursed over eight points of order, which took up 24 minutes of the proceeding. Several lawmakers from JUI-F, PML-N, PkMAP, and ANP also staged a walkout for eight minutes against load shedding in the province. A JUI-F lawmaker also protested on the floor of the House against the absence of the Provincial Secretaries in Official Gallery of the Balochistan Assembly.
