All eyes on Amar Khan in ‘Dil-e-Gumshuda’

Published on: October 6, 2019 12:56 AM

Amar Khan is slowly and gradually becoming one of the most sought after names in the Pakistani drama industry.

She is the perfect blend of beauty with talent along with a personality that had compelled the viewers to take notice of her. She has proven her versatility and has displayed her acting prowess in a very short span of time. After wowing the audiences with all her previous performances, Amar Khan is back on the small screen with Dil-e-Gumshuda, a 7th Sky Entertainment Production. The plot of Dil-e-Gumshuda centers around two cousins Zara and Alizey. Amar essays the character of Alizay and has portrayed it to the best of her abilities which is visible on the screen.

Alizey is a character with gray shades; she is not evil but can’t be termed nice either. She is insecure andjealous, she has a conniving nature that sets her apart from the other central character. She manipulates people to do what she wants them to do. Apart from all that, Alizey is very territorial. She is possessive about the people in her lifeandis unable to share them with anyone else. She firmly believes that her house is her kingdom and she is the kingdom’s princess. She is arrogant, spoiled and thinks very highly of herself since she belongs to an affluent family. She is cold and unwelcoming to her cousin sister Zara who is adopted by Alizey’s father after the death of her father.

As soon as Zara arrives, Alizey immediately takes a disliking towards her. She thinks Zara is there to sabotage her position in the house and in her father’s life. Things get worse when Alizey’s father asks her to welcome Zara instead of giving her a cold shoulder. Her mother shares her opinions about Zara and encourages her to put up a steely demeanour towards Zara and ridicule her

As soon as Zara arrived, Alizey immediately takes a disliking towards her. She thinks Zara and thinks that Zara is there to sabotage her position in the house and in her father’s life. Things get worse when Alizey’s father asks her to welcome Zara instead of giving her a cold shoulder. Her mother shares her opinions about Zara and encourages her to put up a steely demeanour towards Zara and ridicule her. She tells her that the house belongs to her and she is just as good as the domestic help. Alizey along with her mother is always finding a way to demean Zara and bring her down in front of the family.

Like all other characters with gray shades, Alizey isn’t an easy character to play with. In someone else’s hands, the character would have come off as a caricature, the way all negative parts are played but Amar imbues the role of Alizey with a certain earnestness that was required to bring her to life. She adds a relatability factor to the character, forcing the audiences to think that they would have done something similar if someone else would threaten their position in their own house and in the lives of their loved ones. During the process of bringing Alizey from paper to the screen, Amar makes her, her own and does it with enough credibility that makes you want to focus on her and no one else when she is on the screen. A scene stealing performance and Amar knocks it out of the park.

We can’t wait to see how the rest of the drama unfolds and how things go down between Alizey and Zara.
