Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has expressed complete confidence in Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed who is under-fire over his team’s poor performance in the Asia Cup.
Speaking to the media, the chief selector dismissed all the speculations surrounding Sarfraz’s captaincy and lauded his leadership.
Inzamam said that there was no question about the captaincy, however, he said, Sarfraz and the team could not deliver according to the expectations.

Sarfraz was made captain of Pakistan team after Azhar Ali stepped down last year. He currently leads the team in all three formats.
Pakistan lift the Champions Trophy after beating arch-rivals Indian in the final under Sarfraz’s leadership in June last year. However, the skipper could not inspire the team in the recently held Asia Cup.
The chief selector termed the team’s performance in the tournament as an ‘eye-opener’ for the selection committee and hoped that the team would perform better in the upcoming series.
Pakistan and Australia will face each other in a two-match Test series. The first match will be played on October 7 and the second on October 16. This will be followed by the three-match T20 series with matches starting from October 21.
