APPNA invites FPCCI trade delegation to US for trade, investment cooperation

Published on: June 15, 2026 3:20 AM

President of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), Dr Babar Rao, has invited a high-powered trade delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to visit the United States.

The invitation aims to explore new opportunities for bilateral trade, investment and healthcare collaboration, said a press release issued by the FPCCI on Sunday. The invitation was extended to FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and Chairman of Pakistan-USA Business Council FPCCI Malik Sohail Hussain, who have been requested to lead the delegation and engage with leading business, healthcare and investment stakeholders across the United States.

The announcement was made during a dinner hosted in honour of Dr Babar Rao by Malik Sohail Hussain and Barrister Syed Hasnain Kazmi. The event was attended by representatives from the business community, diplomatic circles and the healthcare sector to discuss prospects for strengthening Pakistan-US economic relations.

Political Economy Officer David Morrison attended the gathering on behalf of Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Islamabad, Natalie A. Baker. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Babar Rao highlighted the significant role of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening economic, professional and cultural ties between Pakistan and the United States.

He announced that APPNA physicians would host a special dinner in honour of the FPCCI trade delegation during its visit to the United States, providing an opportunity for interaction with Pakistani-American professionals, investors and business leaders.

The proposed delegation will focus on enhancing business-to-business engagement and exploring investment opportunities in sectors including textiles, agriculture, healthcare, real estate, information technology and entrepreneurship.

The initiative aims to facilitate meaningful partnerships, promote bilateral trade and encourage investment flows between the two countries.

Malik Sohail Hussain said that the Pakistan-USA Business Council was committed to building stronger institutional linkages between the private sectors of Pakistan and the United States.

He expressed the hope that the upcoming delegation would serve as an important step towards enhancing commercial cooperation, attracting investment and identifying new opportunities for Pakistani businesses in the US market. He added that greater engagement between the business communities of both countries could contribute significantly to economic growth, innovation and people-to-people connectivity while reinforcing the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the United States.

Participants at the event expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of the FPCCI delegation would open new avenues of cooperation and further strengthen economic and professional ties between the two countries.
