More than 100 British lawmakers have called for the cancellation of an upcoming Israeli property exhibition in London, arguing that the event could promote properties linked to settlements in the occupied West Bank. Critics say the Israeli settlement property sales event risks facilitating the marketing of land that Palestinians claim as their own.
According to a British newspaper report, members of Parliament expressed concern that land and properties located in occupied Palestinian territories are being advertised and offered to buyers in the United Kingdom. They argued that such activities should not be permitted under British law.
The lawmakers stated that properties seized or occupied by Israeli settlers in the West Bank should not be promoted or sold in Britain. They emphasized that the settlements are considered illegal under international law and that any commercial activity related to them raises serious legal and ethical concerns.
The report said promotional materials for the event included offers to investors interested in purchasing land and property in settlements located within the occupied West Bank. These advertisements reportedly targeted international buyers and highlighted investment opportunities in the area.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International UK said that holding such an event would be inappropriate at a time when concerns over settlement expansion and violence in the West Bank remain high. The organization warned that activities encouraging investment in illegal settlements could contribute to further tensions, adding that Israeli settlement property sales should not be supported through events held in the United Kingdom.
