According to budget documents, a proposed allocation of Rs1.98 billion has been earmarked for the city’s Green Line Bus Rapid Transit project. Additional funding has also been recommended for road construction, street rehabilitation, water supply and drainage schemes across various districts of the metropolitan city.

The proposed allocations include Rs260 million for infrastructure restoration projects in Karachi’s West District, while Rs370 million has been suggested for similar works in Nazimabad and Liaquatabad. Development schemes covering roads, water supply, drainage systems and playgrounds in Landhi, Korangi and surrounding areas are expected to receive Rs350 million.

Budget documents further indicate that Rs45 million has been proposed for road, street, water and drainage projects in Central District. Meanwhile, infrastructure-related projects in Korangi and Malir districts are expected to receive Rs50 million under the proposed development plan.

In addition to ongoing schemes, the federal government is also considering funding for several new projects in Karachi. These include a proposed allocation of Rs400 million for the establishment of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, aimed at enhancing healthcare services and medical research facilities.

Another Rs390 million has been proposed for the upgradation of the National Research and Fertility Care project. The budget also includes a recommendation of Rs50 million for the establishment of the National University of Nursing, which is expected to strengthen nursing education and healthcare training in the country.

Officials say the proposed allocations reflect efforts to address Karachi’s infrastructure and public service needs while supporting long-term development in key sectors. The final allocations will be confirmed once the federal budget is formally presented and approved.
