The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced stricter regulations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) following reported violations of the code of conduct, including concerns over the presence of unrelated individuals and off-field activities involving players.

According to Indian media reports, the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit identified multiple breaches during the ongoing IPL season, prompting the board to issue a detailed eight-page directive to all franchises.
The new guidelines are aimed at tightening security protocols, restricting access to team environments and ensuring greater discipline within hotel and match-day arrangements. The board has made it clear that any future violations will not be tolerated and that the rules take immediate effect.
Under the revised instructions, access of unrelated individuals, including personal guests, to team hotels has been strictly restricted. Meetings with players will only be permitted in designated areas and must be approved through team management.
The directive also states that no visitor will be allowed inside players’ hotel rooms under any circumstances. Additionally, all movements of guests within team hotels will require prior approval from security personnel and team managers.
Players and team members must inform security and management before leaving hotel premises. Similarly, team owners or their representatives will no longer be permitted to directly interact with players inside dugout areas during matches.
The BCCI has also introduced restrictions related to lifestyle conduct, including a ban on vaping within team environments, as part of broader discipline measures.
Reports suggest that concerns over so-called “girlfriend culture” and the presence of non-authorised individuals in team environments contributed to the board’s decision to enforce stricter oversight.

Officials believe these measures are necessary to maintain professionalism, enhance security standards and prevent any breaches that could compromise the integrity of the league.
The updated protocol will apply to all IPL franchises immediately, with compliance expected throughout the remainder of the season and future editions of the tournament.
