According to the petition, the applicants include Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and his Adviser on Finance, Muzammil Aslam. The petition states that the chief minister, as the head of the provincial government, is responsible for governance matters and wishes to consult the PTI founder on key policy and administrative issues related to the upcoming budget.
The application further notes that requests for similar meetings have been made in the past, including consultations regarding cabinet formation and other important provincial affairs. It also mentions that constitutional and contempt of court petitions concerning related matters remain pending before the Islamabad High Court.
The petition emphasizes that the budget for the next fiscal year is a sensitive and important issue that directly affects the development priorities and welfare of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It argues that guidance from the PTI founder is important because the party’s elected representatives were voted into office based on his political vision and policy agenda.
The applicants have requested the court to direct the relevant authorities to facilitate the meeting and ensure that their constitutional rights are protected. They contend that such consultations are necessary to promote good governance and serve the public interest.
