Iran vows to continue diplomacy despite US ambivalence

Published on: April 26, 2026 10:26 AM

Akbar Eissa Zadeh, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran told Daily Times, that despite the uncertain attitude of the US delegation in the first session of Islamabad Talks, Iran will always keep the doors open for talks. The US delegation wanted to get its demands fulfilled more than a ceasefire. Nevertheless, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Aragchi came to Islamabad to continue the negotiations.

Consul General Eissa Zadeh said, the role of Pakistani leadership especially the PrimIran e Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has remained commendable. Iran’s foreign policy vows to promote peace and sustainable relations in the region, and around the globe. Iran has the right to acquire nuclear energy to achieve positive goals like medicine and agriculture, as Iran has always complied with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Ayatollah Khamenei’s fatwa on prohibition of the use of nuclear weapons in a war is still valid.

While addressing to the seminar titled “Iran at the Crossroads of War in the Middle East”, Consul General Eissa Zadeh expressed, that the economic, political and diplomatic relations between Iran and Pakistan have always strengthened. Pak-Iran bilateral trade volume to increase from 3.2 billion USD to 10 billion USD was under discussion, meanwhile, the US and Israel attacked Iran. Bilateral trade can only be increased when the Israel-first policy in the region is ended, he added.

Eissa Zadeh asserted, that the enemy should understand that Iran’s defense industry is independent, and economic sanctions have not brought Iran to its knees, and despite those hurdles, Iran has achieved milestone science and technology, whereas in the United States, democracy has been replaced by ‘dictatorship.’ The US believes in one principle, ‘Might is Right’, which has led to destabilization in the Middle East.

While, shedding light on the international political atmosphere, the Consul General said, that the world is going to be divided into several blocs, and by attacking Iran, the US and Israel bloc has entered a dead end. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz was a part of the Iranian Defence Policy, to prevent the movement of US warships in the region. Hormuz was opened after negotiations with the valuable mediation of Pakistan. Nevertheless, the US blockaded Hormuz, which has to be closed again.

The second round of Islamabad Talks has ended before the commencement the future of the Ceasefire still remains unpredictable.
