The Iranian foreign ministry said the visit is part of a broader regional tour aimed at consultations on current developments and the evolving security situation linked to the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Tehran also praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the parties.

Meanwhile, the United States has confirmed that senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Islamabad for renewed negotiations with Iranian representatives. White House officials said Vice President JD Vance remains on standby but will not participate in this round unless required.

The talks come after weeks of instability following military escalation, including strikes across the region and disputes over maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. Previous discussions held in Islamabad produced no final agreement, although both sides maintained contact through Pakistan’s mediation efforts.

Diplomatic sources indicate that Pakistan continues to play a central role in facilitating communication between Washington and Tehran, with hopes of extending an informal ceasefire and preventing further escalation.

Despite ongoing tensions, both sides have shown cautious willingness to continue engagement, making Islamabad a key diplomatic venue in efforts to de-escalate one of the region’s most sensitive geopolitical crises.
