New Delhi – Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has publicly expressed his desire to apologize to cricket legends MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev for controversial remarks made by his father, Yograj Singh. Speaking in a teaser for an upcoming podcast, Yuvraj clarified his stance, stating that he had previously told his father that such comments were inappropriate.

The controversy stems from multiple statements by Yograj Singh, who had, in past interviews, blamed MS Dhoni for limiting Yuvraj’s opportunities in the Indian team. Yograj also recalled being upset with Kapil Dev during the 1980s and admitted confronting him personally after being dropped from the national squad. These remarks had generated widespread media attention and sparked debates among cricket fans.

Yuvraj, a pivotal member of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup team, emphasized that he respects the contributions of both Dhoni and Kapil Dev. During his international career, Dhoni led the team as captain, which sometimes limited leadership opportunities for Yuvraj, a fact his father had publicly criticized.

In the podcast, Yuvraj reflected on the challenges of balancing family influence and his professional responsibilities. He highlighted that while he respects his father, he cannot endorse statements that unfairly target fellow teammates and former captains. “I want to apologize to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev for any hurt my father’s comments may have caused. I had made it clear to him that such behavior was not right,” Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj’s remarks are seen as an effort to reconcile past tensions and acknowledge the significant roles played by both Dhoni and Kapil Dev in shaping Indian cricket. Cricket analysts and fans have praised Yuvraj for taking a mature stance and separating personal family matters from professional respect for cricketing legends.
