PESHAWAR — Pakistani armed forces have targeted and destroyed Afghan Taliban positions along the Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as part of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, security sources confirmed on Monday. The operation, launched in late February, aims to neutralize cross-border militant threats following unprovoked firing from Afghan Taliban positions.

According to officials, the military used guided missiles to strike Taliban posts, including those linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij. The operation also extended to Kandahar province in Afghanistan, where overnight strikes destroyed technical support infrastructure and an equipment storage facility.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar reported that four civilians were killed and a child injured after the Afghan Taliban “deliberately targeted the civilian population through artillery and mortar fire” in Bajaur district.
Separately, security incidents continued in Bannu district. Two individuals were abducted and later killed in separate attacks. Malik Nabiullah and Shazeb Khan were taken to unknown locations before being shot dead, with investigations ongoing.
In a related development, a suspected militant attack on Fatah Khel police post was foiled thanks to thermal cameras and the prompt response of security personnel, who opened fire on the intruders, forcing them to retreat.

Bannu has witnessed repeated security incidents in recent months, including attacks on police personnel, abductions, and assaults on camps for internally displaced persons. Last month, militants raided a mosque and abducted three brothers, two of whom were police officers and later killed.
Security sources emphasized that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq will continue until all objectives are met, with the armed forces committed to safeguarding civilians and neutralizing militant threats along the border regions.
