Published on: February 26, 2026 2:38 PM

Kohat Police have released photographs of two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Dr Mehwish, as authorities intensify efforts to arrest the accused in the high-profile case. District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi confirmed that the suspects, identified as Hayat Gul and Saif Ali Khan, have gone into hiding since the incident. He stated that investigators identified both men through multiple pieces of evidence and several investigative leads.

According to police officials, the prime suspect, Hayat Gul, had a dispute with Dr Mehwish at Kohat Hospital over the medical examination of a patient. Investigators believe the altercation may have contributed to the tragic sequence of events that followed later that evening. Authorities further revealed that both suspects are close friends, and investigators are examining their movements and communications before and after the crime.

The attack occurred a short distance from her workplace, and she died as a result of the gunshot wounds. The killing sparked strong reactions in the community, with citizens demanding swift justice and stronger security for healthcare professionals.

Meanwhile, police have launched raids at multiple locations to trace and arrest the suspects, and search operations are continuing without interruption. The DPO emphasized that law enforcement teams are working around the clock and following every possible lead to ensure accountability.
