China has strongly condemned the deadly attack on a mosque in Islamabad, expressing deep shock and grief over the loss of innocent lives in one of the capital’s worst terror incidents in years. In an official statement, the Chinese foreign ministry said the attack had caused heavy casualties and left the nation mourning alongside the Pakistani people during this painful moment. The attack occurred on Friday when an armed assailant opened fire at the mosque’s entrance before detonating a suicide bomb among worshippers gathered for prayers. As a result, at least 31 people were killed, making it the deadliest assault of its kind in Islamabad in more than a decade. Security officials said the attacker aimed to cause maximum damage by striking during a busy prayer time. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi publicly accused India of financing and directing terrorist networks linked to the attack. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he claimed that the operation was planned, trained, and executed by Daesh operatives based in Afghanistan. He further alleged that foreign funding reached these groups directly in dollars, enabling the deadly assault. According to Naqvi, the attackers acted on precise targets and instructions provided from abroad.
However, the accusations have added a new layer of tension to an already volatile regional environment marked by security challenges and diplomatic strains. Pakistani authorities have vowed to pursue all those responsible and strengthen intelligence coordination to prevent similar attacks.
