South DIG Syed Asad Raza said a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided a hideout of criminals. The suspects reportedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. After the exchange, six suspects were dead, and two policemen sustained bullet injuries.

The DIG identified four of the deceased as Naqeebullah, Abdul Bari, Allah Dad, and Mujeebullah, stating they belonged to a nine-member Afghan dacoit gang. According to authorities, the gang had killed three brothers during a house robbery in the Haroonabad area a few months ago and had multiple FIRs registered against them. Police recovered five pistols and one rifle from the suspects.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar praised the police for the operation and urged authorities to ensure best medical care for the wounded officers. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking strict action against criminal elements.

In a separate incident in Malir City on Thursday, a suspected robber allegedly involved in the killing of police officer Khan Mohammed Abro was also gunned down. The deceased was identified as Mohammed Jaffer, also known as Bobbi.
