
FIFA will launch a new World Cup video game on Netflix Games on June 11. The release marks a major shift from FIFA’s previous partnership with EA Sports. Football fans and Netflix subscribers worldwide will gain access to the game at no extra cost.
Titled FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, the game will coincide with the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FIFA said the project forms part of a broader digital strategy aimed at increasing fan engagement. The governing body partnered with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive to develop the title.

Players will be able to select from all 48 teams competing in the tournament. The game will feature the World Cup’s 16 stadiums and more than 1,200 players. FIFA described the title as an accessible football simulation designed to recreate the tournament experience for a wide audience.
In addition, users can play the game on televisions by connecting smartphones as controllers. Players can link devices through a QR code and participate in multiplayer matches. FIFA said up to four users will be able to play together, making the game suitable for shared experiences.

The launch reflects FIFA’s new multi-partner gaming approach following the end of its long-standing relationship with EA Sports. Officials said the title represents the first phase of a longer-term gaming project. Additional features and support for more platforms are expected after the initial release, while the 2026 World Cup begins on June 11 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
