The revamped Siri will accept both voice and text inputs, moving beyond simple voice commands to provide conversational, AI-driven interactions. Apple senior vice president Craig Federighi previously stated that Siri should function more like a chatbot, with AI capabilities “integrated so it’s there within reach whenever you need it.” The upcoming changes reflect Apple’s effort to catch up in the AI race, particularly after seeing the rapid success of competing chatbots.

Apple has reportedly explored partnerships with several AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic, before finalising a collaboration with Google’s Gemini. This partnership aims to bring cutting-edge AI capabilities to Apple devices while keeping Siri competitive in an increasingly crowded smart assistant market.
The company has faced criticism for lagging behind competitors in AI integration, with several delayed attempts to launch a more personalised Siri. The new AI-driven assistant is expected to offer enhanced contextual understanding, smarter suggestions, and improved user interactions across Apple’s ecosystem.
