
The Punjab government has approved sweeping hospital reforms, including body cameras for staff, as it moves to tighten discipline, improve security, and strengthen patient care systems.
The decisions were taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz, where officials reviewed health projects and addressed complaints about service quality in public hospitals.

Under the reforms, security guards, ward boys, nurses, and pharmacy staff will wear body cameras, while mobile phone use by doctors and nurses during duty hours has been strictly banned.
Moreover, the chief minister ordered daily steam cleaning of hospitals by 9am and directed strict action against private security staff accused of misconduct, signaling zero tolerance for negligence.

She also expressed concern over medicine shortages despite an Rs80 billion allocation, ordered a modern medicines list, approved a review committee, and called uninterrupted drug supply essential for public trust.
Additionally, Punjab plans performance-based pay for medical superintendents, a Data Analysis Centre to assess reforms, and expanded home delivery of medicines already benefiting hundreds of thousands of patients.
