Top Pakistani dramas of 2025 break records & social taboos

In contrast, modestly scaled dramas with strong scripts and emotional authenticity emerged as clear winners. Shows such as Sher, Parwarish, Jama Taqseem and Qarz-i-Jaan demonstrated that audiences continue to value coherent plots, character development and social relevance over lavish sets and prolonged storylines. These serials addressed themes such as generational conflict, parenting styles, mental health and family dysfunction, resonating with viewers across age groups.

At the same time, problematic tropes — including glorified obsession and non-consensual romance — continued to draw large viewerships, highlighting the tension between progressive storytelling and commercial success.

Industry observers say the year underscored a crucial lesson for producers: long-term impact lies not in inflated budgets, but in meaningful stories. As international audiences grow and digital platforms generate record views, the success of smaller, content-led dramas may push the industry towards more thoughtful and globally relevant storytelling.
