Pakistan is one step closer to launching 5G services, as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) prepares to hold the long-awaited spectrum auction likely before Ramazan.
PTA Chairman confirmed that all preparations for the 5G auction have been completed, signaling that the introduction of next-generation mobile services in Pakistan is no longer far off.
The authority will formally request government approval for the auction, which is expected to move swiftly once authorized, highlighting the critical role of 5G in advancing the country’s digital connectivity.

The Information Memorandum (IM), containing detailed auction terms and conditions, is expected to be issued within 10 to 15 days, giving telecom operators 45 days to prepare and submit their bids.
If the IM is issued by January 1, the 5G spectrum auction could take place on February 15, allowing the launch to happen well before Ramazan and boosting the country’s telecom infrastructure.
Experts say the introduction of 5G will enhance innovation, improve internet speeds, support emerging technologies, and create opportunities for businesses and consumers across Pakistan, marking a milestone in the nation’s digital journey.
