The nationwide transport strike in Pakistan has ended following guidance from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, senior Punjab minister Maryam Aurangzeb said. She thanked all participants, including transporters, for their cooperation, which helped resolve the issue amicably.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Aurangzeb said negotiations with transporters successfully addressed the concerns of the sector. Committees for goods, mini-buses, public transport, and staff duty vehicles will work to find permanent solutions to transport-related issues.
The minister added that the government, transporters, and relevant stakeholders will jointly modernize the sector, aiming to set global standards and provide improved public services.
The strike had disrupted transportation across the country, affecting commuters and businesses. The resolution ensures smoother operations in the transport sector nationwide.
