US President Donald Trump said Iran will “have to pay the price” after a new round of tit-for-tat strikes between the two sides. The remarks came amid escalating military exchanges involving US and Iranian forces. The situation has raised concerns over wider regional conflict and affects diplomatic stability in the Middle East.
Iran launched missile and drone attacks on US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The strikes were carried out in retaliation for earlier American attacks on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, Gulf states and Jordan activated air defence systems to intercept incoming missiles.
According to US officials, American forces targeted Iranian air defence systems, radar sites, and control stations. The operation was described as a proportional response to the downing of a US Apache helicopter. Furthermore, nearly 20 Iranian targets were reportedly hit during the strikes.
Trump said Iran had delayed negotiations and missed opportunities for a deal. He claimed Tehran had engaged in “talk only” without meaningful action. Additionally, he warned that Iran would now face consequences for its decisions.
Meanwhile, Iran said it would reassess its diplomatic engagement with Washington. Officials described the situation as a result of repeated ceasefire violations. Still, no major damage to US bases was immediately reported, though tensions remain high.
