Pakistan on Thursday summoned the ambassador of Norway to convey its concerns over what it described as his “unwarranted” attendance at a court hearing in Islamabad, the Foreign Office said.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador was called in by the Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) and informed that his presence at the court proceeding constituted a breach of diplomatic protocol and relevant international law.
The spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, said the envoy’s action amounted to interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs. He added that the ambassador was urged to follow established diplomatic norms outlined in the Vienna Convention.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan expects all diplomatic missions to respect the country’s laws and adhere strictly to protocol requirements.
