Yasir Hussain defends Nida Yasir amid backlash

Published on: December 11, 2025 5:03 PM

Actor and director Yasir Hussain has publicly supported morning-show host Nida Yasir after she issued an on-air apology for comments about food-delivery riders. He praised her decades-long experience in live television, calling her a “queen of live shows” and noting that speaking live frequently can naturally lead to occasional mistakes.

The controversy began when Nida recounted a segment involving a delivery rider who allegedly did not carry change. While sharing the incident, she generalised the behaviour as something riders “often” do and mentioned keeping some riders waiting to teach them a lesson. This sparked criticism from viewers who considered the remarks insensitive to workers facing long, challenging shifts.

Delivery riders themselves responded with a video playfully roasting the host of Good Morning Pakistan, highlighting the widespread attention the segment received. In response, Nida addressed the controversy at the start of her next episode, clarifying that her complaint referred only to one incident and not all riders.

She acknowledged that her choice of words was poor and apologised to anyone who felt hurt or misrepresented. Nida also emphasised her appreciation for the hard work and service delivery riders provide and stated that live television leaves no room for retakes, making occasional errors understandable.

Yasir Hussain reshared her apology video on Instagram, highlighting the challenges of live television and urging audiences to give hosts the same margin of error they allow in everyday conversations. His defence underlined her professionalism and the sheer volume of live hours she has hosted over her career.

The incident serves as a reminder of the scrutiny public figures face on live television, and the importance of clear communication while balancing spontaneity with sensitivity toward viewers and service workers.
