Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced that Pakistan Railways has achieved record daily revenue, the highest in the past 30 years. He attributed the success to reforms implemented over the last eight months. Both passenger and freight services contributed to the revenue surge.
According to the minister, Pakistan Railways has earned nearly Rs300 million per day over the last 15 days. Abbasi praised the hard work of employees and the effectiveness of recent reforms. He said the increase reflects the organisation’s growing efficiency and financial stability.
Abbasi added that Pakistan Railways has been fully digitalized nationwide. The modernization process aims to make the system more efficient and sustainable. The digital transformation is part of broader reforms for sustainable growth. He emphasized that technology is central to the organisation’s future development.
The minister also highlighted ongoing upgrades to railway stations and tracks. Special attention is being given to tracks from Nokundi to Rohri and Rohri to Karachi. Agreements for these projects have already been finalized. The upgrades aim to improve safety, speed, and overall service quality.

Abbasi asserted that the government will fully implement Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision during the current fiscal year. All set targets will be achieved, and projects are expected to be completed by 31 December 2026. He said the reforms demonstrate the government’s commitment to modernization.
In a related initiative, Pakistan Railways outsourced its schools under a Public-Private Partnership model. The signing ceremony took place in Islamabad last week, with Abbasi witnessing the event. The initiative aims to modernize educational institutions and safeguard the rights of railway employees’ children.
Under the partnership, private operators will introduce modern curricula, advanced teaching methods, and upgraded examination systems. Schools will receive renovated buildings, science and computer labs, and sports facilities. Abbasi said the program aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to provide quality education nationwide.
