Paul Thomas Anderson’s politically charged film One Battle After Another leads the Golden Globe nominations with nine, organisers announced Monday. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, exploring themes of radicalism, immigration, and family dynamics. It secured nods for best comedy/musical picture, best director, and five acting categories.

Norwegian family dramedy Sentimental Value followed closely with eight nominations, while period horror Sinners earned seven and Shakespeare-inspired drama Hamnet received six. The nominations highlight the diversity of this year’s contenders, ranging from foreign-language films to major Hollywood blockbusters.

In the comedy/musical acting categories, nominees include Emma Stone, Amanda Seyfried, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Teyana Taylor, and Infiniti. On the drama side, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Jessie Buckley, Renate Reinsve, Tessa Thompson, and Eva Victor compete for top honors. Each main category will feature six nominees this year, expanding the pool from previous years.
Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, explores racial tensions in 1930s Mississippi and stars Michael B. Jordan as twins navigating a criminal underworld. Hamnet, directed by Chloe Zhao, depicts William Shakespeare’s life amid personal and societal challenges, with Paul Mescal and Buckley earning acting nods. Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein received five nominations, including one for Jacob Elordi.
Notably, Kaouther Ben Hania’s Gaza-based docudrama The Voice of Hind Rajab was nominated for Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language. The film chronicles the tragic death of six-year-old Hind Rajab and features executive producers including Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, and Rooney Mara.

The Golden Globes gala is scheduled for January 11, 2026, in Beverly Hills. Television nominations are also strong, with HBO’s The White Lotus, Severance, and Adolescence leading the pack. Oscar nominations will follow on January 22, setting the stage for awards season.
