UAF teacher arrested over student harassment in Vehari

Published on: November 29, 2025 11:53 AM

TOBA TEK SINGH – Vehari district police on Friday arrested a teacher from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad’s (UAF) Burewala sub-campus over allegations of harassing a female student. The arrest came after a video of the assistant professor allegedly harassing the student went viral on social media in June.

Police spokesperson said Vehari District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Afzal took strict notice of the incident. On his direction, Sheikh Fazil police registered a case against the accused following a complaint filed by sub-inspector Dilshad Hussain and SHO Malik Kazim Hussain. The teacher was arrested while recording his statement before the sub-campus inquiry committee.

The Burewala sub-campus principal confirmed that the accused had been suspended and was facing a departmental inquiry. The administration had forwarded the matter to the UAF Vice Chancellor to take action under the harassment law against the staff member.

A UAF spokesperson reiterated that the university administration is conducting a transparent, fair, and impartial investigation. “As soon as the committee completes its findings, the report and recommendations will be shared,” the spokesperson said. The university emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain a top priority.

The DPO criticized the campus administration for “delaying tactics” and assured that women would not be allowed to face harassment in educational institutions, markets, or workplaces. The spokesperson also noted that the case was formally reported to the sub-campus administration on October 31 and has now been sent to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Women Harassment Department for further review.
